The film currently holds a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers highlight the performances, particularly Michael Keaton’s return as Beetlejuice and Jenna Ortega’s addition as Astrid. Personal Opinion
As a fan of the original “Beetlejuice,” I found this sequel to be a delightful return to Burton’s whimsical and macabre world. The film successfully balances nostalgia with fresh elements, and the chemistry between the returning cast members is palpable. Michael Keaton slips back into the role of Beetlejuice effortlessly, bringing the same manic energy that made the character iconic.Jenna Ortega’s Astrid is a welcome addition, providing a new perspective on the supernatural shenanigans. The visual effects and set designs are a feast for the eyes, blending practical effects with modern CGI in a way that feels true to the original’s aesthetic. While the plot can feel a bit overstuffed at times, the sheer creativity and humor on display make up for any narrative shortcomings. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” may not surpass the original, but it stands as a worthy sequel that captures the spirit of what made the first film so beloved.
